This guide provides how to manage categories of test case in the project.
To manage categories, you need a permission such as Project Manager, Create Plan/TC … . For more information, please refer to Global Permissions.
Add Category in the project
You can create up to 10 sub-levels of a category.
When you move the parent category, the child categories are also moved.
To add categories in the project:
In TESTaide home, select the project to add categories.
Select the 'Project Settings' menu on the left sidebar.
Select the ‘Category’ from the sub-menu.
In the category management page, you can see the Super Category. (It’s a default super category. You cannot remove it but can change the name.)
If you want to create a Sub Category, click the '+' icon besides the Super Category.
In the ‘Create Category’ pop-up window, enter the following information.
Super Category : The parent category that you want to create a Sub Category. (Fixed)
Category Name* : Sub Category name
Click the ‘Save’ button at the bottom to complete adding a subcategory.
📌 If you want to create a Super Category, create a Super Category as a Sub Category of any category. Then click the Super Category and drag left.
📌 If you want to move a category to a subcategory of another category, click the category and move the category below the parent category and drag it to the right
Copy Category from other project.
You need a permission such as Project Manager, Create Plan/TC … for the project that you are copying categories. For more information, please refer to Global Permissions.
When copying a category, the category of the copied project is overwritten with the existing category.
To copy categories from other project:
In TESTaide home, select the project from which you want to copy the categories.
Select the 'Project Settings' menu on the left sidebar.
Select the ‘Category’ from the sub-menu.
In the category management page, click the ‘Copy Category’ button.
In the ‘Copy Category’ pop-up window, select the project to copy the categories to.
Click the ‘Copy Category’ button at the bottom.
When the copy confirmation pop-up window appears, click the 'OK' button to complete the copy.
Delete Category in the project
You cannot delete categories that contain sub categories.
To remove categories in the project:
In TESTaide home, select the project to delete categories.
Select the 'Project Settings' menu on the left sidebar.
Select the ‘Category’ from the sub-menu.
In the category management page, click the ‘Remove’ icon besides the category you want to delete.
