This document provides information on how to create and manage test cases in the TESTaide applicationTESTaide allows users to generate and manage test cases through a couple of different ways, including standard creation and importing from Excel sheets. This document provides guidelines on test case management via the test case page on the TESTaide application.

TESTaide also allows to create test cases and directly add them to a test plan through the detailed plan page. For more details on this, please refer to this guide.

To be able to manage test plans, you will need to have the correct permissions, such as Project Manager or Create Plan/TC … . For more information, please refer to Global Permissions.

TESTaide can generate and manage test cases in the following ways.

  • Create test cases and later add them to the test plan or test suites

  • Copy test cases from one project to another

Create Test Case

To create a test case for a project, follow these steps:

  1. On the test case page, click the ‘Create Test Case’ button.

  2. In the test case creation page, enter the following information.

    • Category : Choose a predefined category of test case

    • Test Case Name* : The maximum length for the name is 50 characters.

    • Test Case type : Choose between manual and auto

      • The ‘Manual’ type is … (to be edited further with feature information)

      • The ‘Auto’ type is … (to be edited further with feature information). The ‘Auto’ type is only available for the Pro edition of TESTaide.

      • Note that you cannot change the type after the test case has been created.

    • Priority

    • Requirement : Requirements defined in Jira (multiple inputs possible)

    • Tags : By using tags, you can search for plans using the Tag Search on the navigation bar to quickly find the plan.

      • Note that you can enter multiple tags by pressing the Enter button on your keyboard after each tag.

    • Pre-Condition : Precondition for testing

    • Attachments

  3. Continue the test case creation by clicking the ‘Test Case Save’ button on the top right of the page. This will redirect you to the next part in the test case creation process where you will create the actual test step/script.

  4. According to the test case type, refer to the corresponding guide for the process to create the steps/script for the test case.

Copy Test Case From Other Projects

To TESTaide also allows the user to copy test cases from one other project to another, follow these steps:

  1. From the list of test cases, select the test case you want to copy.

  2. On the test case detail page, click the ‘More’ button on the top right. When the drop-down menu appears, select the ‘Test Case Copy’ option.

  3. In the pop-up window, select the project you want to copy the test case to.

  4. Click the ‘Copy Test Case’ button at the bottom to complete copying the project.

Edit Test Case

To edit the information of a test case, follow these steps:

On the TESTaide homepage, select the project that contains the test case you want to edit.

Select the 'Test Cases' menu on the left sidebar.

You can edit an already existing test case by…

  1. From the list of test cases, select the test case you want to edit.

  2. On the test case detail page, click the ‘More’ button on the top right of the page. When the drop-down menu appears, select the ‘Test Case Edit’ option.

  3. In the pop-up window, edit the information you want and click the 'Save' button at the bottom to save the changes.

    1. Note that you cannot change the type of the test case.

  4. Click the 'Save' button at the bottom to save the changes.

Delete Test Case

To remove test case(s) from a project, follow these steps:

On the TESTaide homepage, select the project that contains the test case(s) you want to remove.

Select the 'Test Cases' menu on the left sidebar.

You are also able to a delete a test case by…

  1. From the list of test cases, select the test case that you want to remove.

  2. On the test case detail page, click the ‘More’ button on the top right. When the drop-down menu appears, select the ‘Test Case Delete’ option.

  3. When the pop-up window appears, click the 'OK' button to complete the deletion.

참고사항

You can also delete ALL test cases by going into the test case page of a project, clicking the ‘More’ button and choosing ‘Delete All Test Cases’.

Be warned that this step is irreversible!

TESTaide also allows for the users to mass-create test cases by importing the via an Excel sheet. To do this firstly download the Excel template…

  1. On the test case page, click the ‘More’ button on the top right. When the drop-down menu appears, select ‘Download excel template’.

  2. After downloading the Excel template, open the file with an eligible program, such as Microsoft Excel or Google Sheets, and enter the following information.

    • When creating a new test case, enter the following information:

      • TC Key

      • Priority

      • Category (Level 1-10)

      • TC Name

      • Requirements

      • Tags

      • Test Step

      • Test Data

      • Expected Results

    • Add test steps to test cases that was already created.

      • Enter Test Step below the upper test case.

      • When selecting a test case, select it together with the parent test case

  3. On the test case page, click the ‘More’ button on the top right. When the drop-down menu appears, select the ‘Create Test Case by import Excel’ option.

  4. On the pop-up window, click the ‘Choose File’ button, select the Excel file you created, and click the 'Create Test Case by import excel' button.

  5. On the import page, select test cases you want to import by checking the box and click the ‘Excel Import’ to complete the import.
